If you are in Maryland's 8th Congressional District, you can vote for Murray Hill in the Republican primary this year. Maybe.
Actually, Murray might have some trouble getting on the primary ballot, because" he" is actually an "it": Murray Hill, Inc. is a corporation.
Perhaps you recall the Supremely idiotic decision the Roberts court made a few weeks ago extending still more rights to corporations, based on the legal fiction that they have "individual" rights. Based on that, Murray Hill has taken the next logical step: If corporations have all the rights of individuals, shouldn't they be able to run for office?
So, while the company's bid to get on the ballot may not fly, I really have to applaud their sense of humor and their legal perspicacity in poking a badly needed stick in the Court's eye. Check out their Facebook page, where you can read more and sign up as a fan.
Here's another thought for Murray Hill as a follow-up: why not try to marry another corporation? Wouldn't that be a handy way to avoid all the legal hassle of a merger, and get around anti-trust laws?
