When I was a kid (just a few short years ago of course) our family always owned a U.S. flag that my dad would get out and display in front of the house on certain patriotic days. There was Flag Day of course,Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and especially, Independence Day. At the time, it seemed that nearly everyone followed this practice. These days, I don't see very many flags out on homes any more. Too bad - it's a nice tradition, and one that's still meaningful.
