I'm short on time lately but a recent piece by Elizabeth Kolbert in the New Yorker, entitled The Things People Say, is an excellent read detailing how the internet helps insure that kook ideas gain currency over reality. It explains a good deal about our recent health care debate, and also the persistence of such inanities as the so-called "birther" phonomenon.
Great article - well worth reading.
