Sometimes the morning news is more startling than on other days. Today, we hear that Monica Lewinsky is back, billing herself on Twitter as an advocate for the victims of cyberbullying.
Ah, modern day America! It's all about reinvention, isn't it?
It was my impression that cyberbullying victims were those who suffered from untrue or exaggeratedly calumnious remarks by their peers.
It's not the same as having bad judgment and getting called on it. In some ways she was a victim, but not in that way. So, just a flash in the pan, let us hope, and then back to obscurity.
Political pundits have already tried to draw a connectin between ML's resurrection at a time when Hillary Clinton may be poised to seek the Presidency herself, but it's hard to see how Lewinsky's tweets could damage her.
In my most generous mood, I can accept that Ms. Lewinsky is simply, somehow, trying to get her life back. But in a less generous mood, I must assume she's trying to play on her former notoriety to advance herself and her cyberbullying cause. All that said, I think her motives are highly suspect.
